About Bhagwan Swaminarayan

Harikrishna Maharaj.jpg Bhagwan Swaminarayan (1781–1830) is revered as a divine incarnation who transformed millions of lives through His message of dharma, bhakti, seva, and ahimsa. Born as Ghanshyam Maharaj in Chhapaiya, Uttar Pradesh, He displayed extraordinary spiritual purity and compassion from childhood.

At the age of 11, He left home and began a 7‑year pilgrimage across India, walking more than 12,000 km barefoot as Nilkanth Varni. During this journey, He uplifted saints, yogis, and seekers, restoring true spiritual practices wherever He went.

After completing His pilgrimage, He established the Swaminarayan Sampraday, a spiritual fellowship focused on:

  • Moral living (Dharma)
  • Pure devotion (Bhakti)
  • Service to humanity (Seva)
  • Non‑violence and compassion (Ahimsa)
  • Detachment from worldly addictions

He initiated more than 3,000 saints, built beautiful mandirs, and wrote the Shikshapatri, a scripture of 212 verses guiding devotees toward a righteous life.

Bhagwan Swaminarayan emphasized:
